Kappa Mu Epsilon
KME is a nationally recognized honors society. KME was granted membership into the Association of College Honor Societies in 1968.
The Louisiana Delta Chapter was established at 四色AV in 2001. Membership in KME is viewed
highly by employers, as well as professional and graduate schools.
The primary purposes of being a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon include the following:
- to further the interests of mathematics;
- to help students realize the important role that mathematics has played in the development of civilization;
- to develop an appreciation of the power and beauty possessed by mathematics, due, mainly, to its demand for logical and rigorous modes of thought;
- to provide a society for the recognition of outstanding achievement in the study of mathematics;
- to disseminate the knowledge of mathematics and familiarize its members with the current
progress in this important area of human interest.

There is a one-time national membership fee of $20. This fee required by the national organization is essentially returned to the new members in the following forms: membership certificates and cards, key pin jewelry, a two-year subscription to the society鈥檚 journal, delegate money to national conventions, etc. There are no local dues for membership.

New Initiates
- Must be or a regularly enrolled student at 四色AV,
- Must have completed at least three semesters at 四色AV (or at least one semester at 四色AV if a transfer student),
- Must rank in the upper 35% of his/her class, and
- Must have completed at least three college courses in mathematics including at least Math 1031 and attained an average of B or better in all mathematics courses.
The initiation ceremony will be held in mid-Spring. If you have the qualifications, contact your mathematics professor.听
